Work in progress

This 44 bed scheme was the first build in the North East for a national housing association. Our client approached us to work with them to build a structure which was energy efficient to BREEAM standards, and which was constructed as safely and efficiently as possible in order to reduce build programme.
What we did
Great result
With energy saving and running costs high on the agenda, both client and sponsor were looking for ways to future proof future costs, so we used our own SAP assessor to collaborate with the design team to ensure that the fabric proposition was fully compliant. Working as part of the delivery team which included mechanical, electrical, steel work and thermal assessors, we were able to deliver an integrated build which included private bedspaces, large communal areas, commercial kitchen and library. In addition, our efficient Norwegian underfloor heating system was the largest install in the UK at that point. Feedback from the ‘user group’ has been very positive, reporting that they have been setting the thermostat several degrees lower – even on the very coldest days over the last two winters…
